this is just me beating a dead horse about how terrifying the proposal is to start a police registry of mentally ill people, but like, I don’t think I know a single activist without at least one mental illness or cognitive difference. Most have multiple serious psychiatric or cognitive issues they seek some sort of healthcare for (whether that be therapy, counseling, medication, etc.). 

And that’s just the thing– oppression is fucking stressful, scary, traumatizing, and depressing.  Of course marginalized people disproportionately struggle with these things. Of course people living in a culture that tells them they’re powerless/worthless/disgusting/disposable will consider suicide. 

And holding people’s natural psychological reactions to living in this society against them as a reason to further marginalize, criminalize, and threaten them? It’s so cruel it makes my chest physically ache.
