i just saw love, simon and it’s officially the best thing to happen on this planet and i mean this from the bottom of my heart
before i even delve into any of the lgbt aspects of the movie, so much power to the ppl who created this movie bc the most gotdamn wonderful thing abt this movie was how relatable it was w/o falling into the traps so many high school esque movies do bc love, simon did not:
- try too hard to be relatable to the point where it felt forced
- brush off the relatable aspects in a humorous way which isn’t always bad thing but this movie just wasn’t at all afraid to own the more raw yet more “average” struggles teens rlly do have and that was just?? rlly magical to see played out in the beautiful way love, simon did it
love simon captured the best and worst parts of everything from friendships, to family dynamics, to yes, ofc, lgbt challenges n blessings, to just being a young person in general.
firstly, i want to address some of the friendships, the peer to peer dynamics, the relationships between the kids– love, simon did a magical job of naturally relating things that struck home for high schoolers in a way i have never ever seen before in any type of media and i’m about to tell you why
ok warning spoilers now ahead !
