We almost impeached a president for cheating on his fucking wife but we can’t even impeach Trump for putting children in fucking cages

clinton was a democratic president with a republican-dominated congress who couldn’t wait to get rid of him.

dolt 45 is a fascist under the guise of “republican” with a republican-white-male-dominated congress who’s still mad that they had to acknowledge a black man with an “ethnic” name as president for eight years.

they’re so fucking pleased to have this idiot in the white house because they can pretty much shove whatever they want in front of him, and as long as they keep mentioning his name (because that’s the only way he’ll stay interested), he’ll sign it.

there have been numerous articles of impeachment introduced by house democrats, but they never go anywhere because of the aforementioned republican-white-male-dominated congress.

this is just one more reason why registering to vote and voting democrat in the upcoming primary and general mid-term elections this year is so important.

I guess voting is important, but stop kidding yourself that the Democrats are in serious opposition to all of this. Let’s review for a moment:

  • Obama deported a record number of immigrants. He did so by building up ICE. If Obama had, instead, worked to disband ICE — which did not exist before 2003, and was created out of thin air by George W. Bush — there would have been nothing for Trump to work with.
  • Similarly, Obama refused to prosecute anybody in the Bush administration for any sort of crime, war or otherwise. It is technically possible that the Republican Party would have had its resurgence anyway, but getting away with all their crimes over the 8 years beginning in 2000 certainly helped. This was an unbelievable lack of foresight, if it was not deliberate malignant. (Given that Obama wanted to continue all of Bush’s war policies, including preemptive invasion — Libya, if you may recall — he may have been refusing to prosecute Bush in hopes that future Republican presidents would return the favor.)
  • Obama also made a campaign promise to reduce our nuclear arsenal, which would have made Trump marginally less dangerous. He did not do so — in fact, he petitioned Congress — successfully — to spend $1 trillion to refurbish them and construct new ones, instead. That includes the construction of “tactical” nuclear weapons, designed to be used in battle rather than as a deterrent. At the time, it was alleged that Hillary Clinton wrote the proposal for him.
  • Democrats have repeatedly provided exactly enough support for Republican bills and nominees under Trump for the Republicans to get their way. Tim Kaine, who was going to be a heartbeat away from the presidency if Hillary Clinton had been competent, may not have voted for torturer Gina Haspel as head of the CIA, but he did vote for Mike Pompeo, Trump’s previous nominee, who was Haspel’s boss when she was a torturer and ordered her to do it; he also voted with Republicans to — successfully — deregulate the banks even further, so that we can have a repeat of the 2008 meltdown. That’s one of the people at the top of the Democratic Party, I remind you.
  • Despite the Republicans explicitly announcing that they were not going to cooperate with Democrats under Obama (which they did within 24 hours of Obama being sworn in at the beginning of his first term) the Democrats spent all 8 years of Obama’s presidency trying to negotiate with the Republicans instead of ignoring them. Unless you are going to claim that the Democrats are so stupid that they couldn’t learn a lesson after 8 years which most of us figured out in less than a week, you have to assume that they were using the Republicans as an excuse to avoid doing anything. Either option means that the Democrats are no more fit to govern than the Republicans.
  • And don’t forget: Congress explicitly voted not to invade Libya. Obama, a Democrat, apparently acting under the advice of his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, also a Democrat, invaded anyway, destroying the government of Libya which expanded ISIS operations throughout the region, destabilized the surrounding governments, killed thousands outright and hundreds of thousands indirectly, created refugees by the hundreds of thousands, and incidentally caused the reappearance of slavery. (Furthermore, the UK’s government has published its investigation of the operation, and concluded that based on the internal evidence, not only were Hillary Clinton’s stated reasons for the war lies, but she knew she was lying when she gave the speeches which narrowly convinced NATO to go along with the invasion.)

In conclusion: the Democrats will not save the country. They aren’t interested in saving the country. They will do the same things as the Republicans, but with better PR. Voting alone will not help, you need to get out and protest, you need to get in your representatives’ faces, you need to be screaming and yelling and fighting because the Democrats are right-wing, too.

@beesandwasps omg thank you. I kept seeing this post going around with that really naïve liberal commentary and I’m glad someone’s refuting it.

Like yeah, I acknowledge that a lot of things would be marginally better under democrats, but the majority of liberals only notice the US government’s many reprehensible actions if it’s not their person in office doing them.

^ both democrats and republicans are garbage and we cant just sit here and take it we need to fight this bullshit tooth and nail
