face it. if you want to bring up how horrible gulags were (and yeah they were horrible) but dont care about people unjustly imprisoned in american prisons RIGHT NOW, being forced to work for almost no pay serving ridiculously long sentences then you dont actually give a shit about prisoners. if you use famines in the ussr or maoist china as reasons why communism fails but you dont want to say homelessness, deaths caused by austerity, deaths caused by preventable disease bc people couldnt afford healthcare in america, or the poverty in 3rd world countries caused by capitalist exploitation are all bc of capitalism then you dont actually care about poverty. all you care about is reiterating the points youve heard about communism while refusing to look in a mirror. i can recognize that stalinism is wrong and that the ussr was a distortion of what socialism actually is. and there are plenty of other leftists who recognize that too and are striving for actual liberation from exploitation, poverty and misery. are you as well?
