As a Tumblr user since March 2008 and having gathered over 650,000 fans on this platform alone, I believe that Tumblr’s guideline updates are a terrible move for them. Having immersed myself in this community for the past ten years looking at thousands of other users’ Tumblrs, this update, in my mind, will kill what Tumblr is and ultimately cause it’s end as a place for creative, individualistic thought and sharing.
I don’t know where we will go from here, but hopefully Tumblr realizes their mistake and fixes what they’re about to break.
People are already patting themselves in the back and talking about how they are such pure cinnamon rolls that these new guidelines will never affect them and…did you forget last time tumblr tried to automatically flag stuff as adult content? When completely SFW posts that had words like “gay” in it or too much “skin tone” detected were just censored? Are you really willing to bet on staff’s competence?
It’s already bad enough you are completely disregarding adult sex workers and decent NSFW artists who use tumblr as a platform and depend of it to live, but you are also dense enough to think no SFW blogs or content will be negatively affected? Take a break from your softboy~* routines and try to grasp just how bad staff is about to fuck up.
